Nine events landed in this weekend’s Miami roundup. I don’t like treating an event roundup as a final itinerary, because event dates, times, venues and ticket details can change fast.
I checked the current organizer, venue and local event sources before narrowing the list. Five items currently line up well enough to consider; four deserve another check before you make the drive. One of the four has a direct date conflict with the source information.

Five picks that currently line up
1. Community Memory Circle with the Black Archives — Friday, August 28
Going Overtown currently lists this for 6:00–9:00 PM at The Peach, 123 Northwest 14th Street in Miami. That matches the date, time and location in the initial event listing.
Source check: Going Overtown event page.
2. Coconut Grove Full Moon Party at Regatta Grove — Friday, August 28
Regatta Grove’s current events page confirms the Coconut Grove Full Moon Party for Friday, August 28. The initial event listing showed a 7:00 PM start. The venue page confirmed the event and date during this check; I would still open the ticket page before leaving for the final entry time and ticket conditions.
Source check: Regatta Grove upcoming events.
3. Contemporary Currents: The Vessels of Memory We Carry — Saturday option
This is better understood as an ongoing Deering Estate exhibition, not a one-day Saturday event. Deering Estate currently lists the exhibition from August 1 through October 20, with a 10:00 AM–4:00 PM window. That supports considering it on Saturday, August 29, but the current official page should control before you go.
Source check: Deering Estate exhibition page.
4. Dèy — An Evening with Edwidge Danticat — Saturday, August 29
Going Overtown currently confirms the event for 7:00–8:00 PM at Books & Books Coral Gables, 265 Aragon Avenue. That lines up with the initial event listing’s Saturday listing.
Source check: Going Overtown event page.
5. South Florida Cars and Coffee — Sunday, August 30
The current GetOutGarage listing confirms the event for Sunday, August 30 at Miami International Mall, 1455 NW 107th Avenue in Doral, but it lists 8:00–11:00 AM—not the 4:00 AM time shown in the initial event listing. I would use the current 8:00–11:00 AM listing as the better public reference and confirm the organizer before departure.
Source check: current Cars and Coffee listing.
Four I would confirm before making the drive
Miami End of Summer Family Fun, Food Truck, Music & Vendor Festival
This one has a direct conflict. The initial event listing showed Friday, August 28 at 10:00 AM at Bayfront Park, while the current Eventbrite listing says Friday, September 4 through Sunday, September 6, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM. I would not build an August 28 plan around this without confirmation from the organizer.
Current ticket listing: Eventbrite.
Free Friday Drum Jam
The initial event listing showed Friday, August 28 at 7:00 PM at 12770 Southwest 125th Avenue in Miami. I did not locate a current authoritative organizer or venue page during this verification pass, so I would confirm the event directly before leaving.
Heavenly Birthday Salute to Michael Jackson
The initial event listing showed Saturday, August 29 at 2:00 PM at 16413 Southwest 84th Street in Miami. I did not locate a current authoritative event page during this verification pass, so this remains a check-before-you-go item.
Backyard Worship Night
The initial event listing showed Saturday, August 29 at 7:30 PM at 32359 Southwest 195th Avenue in Homestead. I did not locate a current authoritative organizer or venue confirmation during this pass, so I would verify it before making the drive.
My simple rule for weekend event roundups
Use the roundup to discover ideas, then confirm four things before leaving: date, time, venue and ticket or RSVP requirements. If the available data and the organizer disagree, the current organizer or venue source should win.
That extra minute matters most when an event was moved, a recurring listing changed, or an event roundup was assembled before the organizer updated its own page.
If the weekend gets you thinking about a neighborhood
If you’re exploring Miami-Dade this weekend and a neighborhood gets you thinking about a move, a rental, or what homes nearby are actually doing, I’m happy to help you sort through it without the sales pressure.
